‘Project Vision’ in conjunction with the State opened a temporary shelter called Pu’uhonua O Nene is housing up to 150 people who were houseless in Lahaina before the fires. Located along Hana Hwy. and the old Kahului Airport Access Rd. now called the Elmer F. Cravalho Way near the airport. It has Military grade tents, bathrooms, showers, medical services, case managers, and transportation for 6-18 months while coming up with a recovery plan for them. Longer-term situations are in the works.

  • JoAnn is ELATED to get rehired to her former job that had been temporarily shut down as the West Side is reopened for business!

  • Residents are being to be allowed to reenter multiple fire zones with safety PPE and visit their properties.

  • Some rental assistance and temporary housing have been extended please check with your FEMA rep.

  • Lahaina’s BANYAN TREE has green sprouts!!!!! Our symbol of hope! On Newsbreak and other news outlets - 150-Year-Old Banyan Tree Burned by Maui Wildfires Showing New Signs of Life

  • Teresa, a nurse with her hubby and 2 kids who had short-term rental got long-term rental instead that started October 1st!

  • Aunties have been delivering poi every Friday to displaced families.

  • Robin, a Scientist/Water Quality is getting PPE (personal protection equipment) and education for those returning to their properties for protection against asbestos, toxins, and chemicals.

  • Aunty Val and her family have secured a long-term rental in Napili, near other ‘ohana!
